Inspired by the timeless code of the samurai, the 7-5-3 Program at Bushido Academy teaches kids how to live with honor, discipline, and purpose.
Through 7 warrior virtues, 5 keys to healthy living, and 3 states of mental focus, students learn to grow not just as martial artists—but as strong, respectful young leaders. It’s character development, rooted in martial tradition and brought to life on and off the mats.
Inspired by the Bushido code of the samurai
Each week, students explore and apply one of these timeless values—learning to lead with integrity, courage, and honor:
Rectitude – Doing what’s right, even when it’s hard
Courage – Facing fear with strength and determination
Benevolence – Showing kindness and compassion
Respect – Treating others with dignity and care
Honesty – Speaking truth and living with integrity
Honor – Taking pride in your actions and choices
Loyalty – Standing by your team, family, and values
Building strong bodies and sharp minds through everyday habits
Our students learn that martial arts success doesn’t just happen on the mats—it’s built through healthy choices in daily life:
Physical Activity – Move your body every day
Proper Nutrition – Fuel yourself with healthy foods
Rest & Recovery – Get enough sleep and downtime
Mental Clarity – Stay focused, calm, and present
Strong Relationships – Treat family, friends, and teammates with care and respect
These keys help kids build discipline, energy, and the confidence to live a balanced life—inside and outside the academy.
Sharpening focus, calmness, and emotional strength—like a true martial artist
These mental states, drawn from traditional Japanese martial arts, help kids learn to stay composed, aware, and in control—both on the mats and in life:
Zanshin (Awareness) – Always stay alert and present
Mushin (Calm Mind) – Let go of distractions and stay mentally clear
Fudoshin (Immovable Mind) – Stay steady under pressure, no matter what
These principles are taught through drills, mat chats, and real-life application—so students can respond, not react.
Yes. The 7-5-3 Code is fully integrated into our weekly class structure through short “mat chats,” behavior-based rewards, and ongoing mentorship. It’s not a separate add-on—it’s part of how we teach martial arts.
Not at all. While we introduce terms like Zanshin and Fudoshin to spark curiosity and cultural respect, we focus more on the values behind the words—like awareness, calmness, and emotional control.
Absolutely. Parents often tell us their kids show improved focus, respect, and responsibility at home and in the classroom thanks to what they’re learning in the 7-5-3 Program.
That’s exactly who this program is for. The 7-5-3 Code helps kids discover inner strength, speak up, and feel proud of who they’re becoming—at their own pace and comfort level.
Yes. Students can earn character stripes, class shout-outs, and recognition when they demonstrate the 7 virtues, healthy habits, or focused mindset taught each week.
The 7-5-3 program has given my daughter so much confidence. She used to be shy in new situations, but now she speaks up in class and even volunteered to lead a drill in martial arts. It’s been amazing to see her grow.
Since my son started the character development program, we’ve noticed a huge change in his discipline at home. He’s more responsible with chores and homework, and he takes real pride in doing things the right way.
ne of the biggest changes we’ve seen is how respectful our son has become—not just to us, but to his teachers and classmates too. Bushido Academy is teaching life lessons that go far beyond martial arts.
My teenager has started taking on leadership roles thanks to the character development program. He helps younger kids in class and has become more confident about guiding others. It’s preparing him for life.
We’ve seen such an improvement in our daughter’s focus since she started the program. Her teachers even mentioned she’s more engaged in school and finishes assignments without as much distraction
Bushido Academy’s character development program has been life-changing for our family. It’s not just about martial arts—it’s about raising strong, respectful, and confident kids who are ready to handle challenges in life.
